Canadian rock royalty are getting hitched! In August, Avril Lavigne and
Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger got engaged, although few even knew they
were dating until the announcement came.

The "Sk8er Boi" star's rep confirmed the news to
PEOPLE.
According to the report, the relationship "blossomed" while they
were writing songs for Lavigne's upcoming album. In late February,
Lavigne tweeted a playful photo of her and her future beau, with the
caption "Bro'ing out with Chad Kroeger in the studio."
Whatever
their collaboration ends up producing (aside from a wedding date)
the two rockers have a proven track record in the studio. Between
them, the couple has sold 34.3 million albums in the U.S., according
to Nielsen SoundScan, and notched 11 top 10 singles on the
Billboard
Hot 100 chart.
Kroeger, 37, proposed to the 27-year-old Lavigne on Aug. 8 with a 14-carat diamond engagement ring.
This
will be Lavigne's second time down the aisle, having finalized her
divorce with Sum 41's Deryck Whibley in 2010. Since then she has
also dated socialite Brody Jenner. This will be Kroeger's first
marriage.
